Interested in Monster iOS: A New Beginning but want to take a look first? Great! We’ve got the introduction and first chapter available for you to look at.
This is not your normal programming book.
Don’t get me wrong – you’ll learn all about iOS development in this book. But this isn’t just a programming book which explains the concepts of programming for iOS. This is also the story of Dave the Developer who ended up in a strange place. How did he end up there? Did he get bitten by a radioactive creature, or was he the involuntarily victim of a science experiment gone horribly wrong, or was he forced there by a secret government agency? This book just doesn’t tell you that since that’s a story for another time.
Suffice it to say that Dave found himself in a strange place. (Nope, I won’t say he was a stranger in a strange land – that’s been done already.)
Do I mean strange as in finding yourself in Amish country? I’d have to say that it was a bit stranger than that … Dave found himself in a place where creatures of fantasy were everyday occurrences. Your not-so-evil-but-still-quite-dead zombie, the bloodsucking vampire who sees you as a juice-box, the goblin who’d rather spit in your eye than talk to you – all these were inhabitants of this new world that Dave had to interact with on a daily basis.
Dave has no idea whether he’s still on planet Earth, or on some strange alien planet. Sometimes, he’s not even sure if he’s awake or dreaming. But what he does know is that the denizens of this new place somehow have access to the Internet from old Mother Earth. And as luck (mostly bad) would have it, they had stumbled on to the Apple site and were obsessed with mobile devices!
All the monsters were really curious about iOS development (and the next iPhone, just like a lot of people over on this side). Given that Dave is a developer, the monsters ask him to explain all the concepts of iOS development and how to create a mobile app.
This is Dave’s story and how he taught zombies, ghouls, ghosts, and vampires (and other creepy, crawly creatures that’d give you a bump even in the day time, let alone night) how to create an iOS app. Read it and enjoy! Hopefully, you’ll also learn a lot about iOS development in the process.
